Neck Spurs Surgery Resources

Resources

  • Spinal Fusion Alternative
Spinal fusion surgery risks are quite similar to other conventional spinal surgeries and should we discussed in detail with your surgeon prior to the surgery.
  • Spine Surgeons
If you are suffering from back pain or neck pain you usually look to your family doctor or primary care physician first for medical attention. Unfortunately many patients end up needing to go a step further and require the services of a spine specialist.
  • Neck Spurs Surgery
Laser back surgery also referred to as laser spine surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that treats all sorts of upper and lower back conditions such as a pinched nerve, a herniated disc, spinal stenosis and many other back conditions.
  • Lumbar Surgery
If your back condition progresses far enough and does not heal through conventional treatment, lumbar spine surgery may be recommended.
  • Laser Spine Surgery
When considering undergoing spine surgery there are a few choices out there and one of them could be a Facet Thermal Ablation. Unlike conventional back surgery, this laser spine surgery procedure is minimally invasive helping the patient heal faster and get on with life!
  • Treatments

  • Foraminotomy
A foraminotomy is performed to relieve the symptoms of nerve root compression in cases where the foramen is being compressed by bone, disc, scar tissue, or excessive ligament development and results in a pinched nerve.
  •
  • Laminotomy
A laminotomy is a surgical procedure that is used to relieve pressure off the spinal canal for the exiting nerve root and spinal cord, increasing the amount of space available for the neural tissue and thus releasing the nerve(s).
  •
  • Facet Thermal Ablation
The surgeon uses a laser to clean the facet joint and deaden the nerve that innervates the joint and causes painful symptoms. The facet joints are the joint structures that connect the vertebrae to one another.
  •
  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy
Percutaneous Discectomy is the surgical removal of herniated disc/bulging disc material that presses on a nerve root or the spinal cord.
  •
  • Spinal Fusion Alternative
When you fuse an area of the spine you lose mobility in that particular region. The spine is very mobile and fusing vertebrae together causes extreme wear and tear on the vertebrae (and discs) above and below the area of the fusion because they are trying to compensate for the area that is now immobile.

    Symptoms

  • Headaches
When nerves in the neck become pinched from conditions such as bone spurs, often headaches can be symptoms of this.
  •
  • Radiating Pain
Sometimes a bone spur may impinge on the sciatic nerve causing signs of sciatica. One of the main symptoms of sciatica is pain in the buttocks and hips that radiate into the legs and sometimes into the feet and toes.
  •
  • Weakness
If a bone spur pinches a nerve and limits the amount of nutrients that can travel to the affected muscle for a lengthly period of time, muscular weakness may begin to set in.
  •
  • Back Pain
back pain is often associated with bone spurs and depending on the location of the spur it will be felt in the cervical or lumbar region of the back.
  •
  • Pins and Needles
When a bone spur impinges a nerve it will often be felt in the way of a pins and needle feeling extending into the affected extremity (arms / legs)
